Kathleen Blanco Most To Blame For Katrina Disaster

The conditions after Katrina are more the result of Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, our at-the-time governor (we've more than made up for that bad decision with our current governor) and her bad decisions than anyone else, including Mayor C. Ray Nagin. Nagin did the best he could do opening up the Superdome and Convention Center. Sure the conditions inside were horrible, but the goal was to keep people alive at that point.
It was Blanco who refused federal aid for three days following the levee breach. This is the same Governor Blanco who flew on a private jet with the CEO of the Shaw Group reportedly to meet face-to-face with Fidel Castro just months before the storm.
Nagin's an idiot in a room full of idiots, but the man did all he could during Katrina. It is Kathleen Blanco who deserves the lion's share of the blame for the disastrous aftermath of Hurricane Katrina that cost me my home and most of my possessions and others far more than that.
