Welcome to Downtown New Orleans
Poydras Street Sign Welcomes Visitors to the Big Easy
March 31, 2010
NEW ORLEANS, LA - Sign on Poydras Street facing South Claiborne Avenue in front of the Louisiana Superdome welcoming visitors to downtown New Orleans.
The sign reads: "Welcome to New Orleans", with the word "Downtown" underneath the main welcoming.
The photograph was taken prior to the New Orleans Saints playoff victory over the Arizona Cardinals, which put the team in the NFC Championship game against the Minnesota Vikings, which the Saints won by a score of 31-28 in overtime, earning them a birth in the Super Bowl in a game that may have played a large factor in the NFL's offseason modifications to its overtime rules.

The sign is just a few blocks away from the more famous "Canal" and "Bourbon" Streets, which are located in and around what is known as "the French Quarter", a signature section of the Big Easy, and one of the city's more popular tourist spots.
